HOT's Annual Great Singers Great Songs Concert to Showcase Mae Z. Orvis Opera Studio Members
HOT's annual Great Singers, Great Songs concert is on Saturday, October 11 at 7 pm. The concert features singers from the Mae Z. Orvis Opera Studio under the musical direction of San Francisco Opera Center’s Director of Musical Studies, Mark Morash.
“This is a great opportunity to showcase the tremendous talent of Mae Z. Orvis Opera Studio members. We are also excited to have Mark Morash with us who selected the repertoire, coached the singers and will play piano on the concert. All that attend are supporting a great cause – perpetuating the tradition of opera in Hawaii,” states Erik Haines, HOT’s Director of Education.
HOT’s Mae Z. Orvis Studio for up-and-coming opera artists continues into its ninth year. Studio members have continued to develop vocal skills, artistic abilities, audition skills, and business skills through their involvement in Grand Opera chorus, education and outreach programs, as well as other masterclass and workshop offerings. Proceeds from the event benefit the Mae Z. Orvis Opera Studio. Tickets will be sold at the door, $12 for general admission, and $8 for students and seniors.
