Hawaii Opera Theatre (HOT) outperformed over 70 percent of charities surveyed in the nation, and is the only arts organization in the state to receive a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for the fiscal year of 2007.  The coveted 4-star rating by Charity Navigator is awarded to charities which demonstrate an outstanding ability to efficiently manage funds and increase finances.
As America’s top nonprofit evaluator, Charity Navigator appraises more than 5,000 charities nationwide.  HOT had the highest point ratings out of all evaluated opera companies in the country.  “The community of Hawaii has supported Hawaii Opera Theatre for nearly 50 years.  Receiving a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for the last two years is an honor.  It ensures the public that donations are being used efficiently and are serving a great cause,” said Karen Tiller, HOT’s Executive Director
Charity Navigator’s website allows donors to easily find charities that are accountable, accurate, and trustworthy based on its extensive evaluation assessment process.  Charity Navigator has more visitors than all other charity evaluators combined and site visitors contribute over $3 billion annually in donations.  “Charity Navigator is a wonderful third party endorsement,” says Karen Tiller.   “It is another affirmation that HOT is a fiscally sound, stable arts organization.”
