Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana joins Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci
Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, is considered by many to be a masterpiece and one of the best creations of the past century. What began as a choral work has cemented itself in popular culture, having been drawn upon for inspiration and included in television, film, and other musical endeavors.
In 1997, Portland Opera took the beloved classic to another level, and brought in the acclaimed BodyVox Dance (also from Portland) to choreopgraph and dance to Carmina Burana. In the time since, the production has toured extensively and been installed at multiple Opera Companies across the United States.

Witness Carl Orff’s choral masterpiece Carmina Burana like never before in HOT’s upcoming production of Pagliacci & Carmina Burana!
Originally created by the Portland Opera and featured across North America, HOT brings a production from outside the company to Hawaii for the first time in over 40 years! The BodyVox Dance Troupe has been a part of the production since the beginning. The award-winning performance group created this piece and is on island to install it once more!

Hawaii Opera Theatre’s (HOT) production of Pagliacci & Carmina Burana is right around the corner!
This opera was originally created by the Portland Opera and HOT breaks new ground by bringing in a piece to Hawaii from another company for the first time. Bodyvox, who provided dancers in the original production, will also be coming to Honolulu from Portland to reprise their role in bringing the music of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana to Life!
